I am an advocate for all scholars and know that everyone has a place in the college landscape. My passion is guiding students to see themselves as the prize and find their true college fit. I am well versed in relationship building and meeting students where they are to instill confidence in this process. I am also focused on increasing awareness to educated families with limited knowledge and access about the college process.
I am a first-generation college student and attended my flagship state school, the University of Missouri-Columbia, on a full-academic scholarship. I graduated in 1998, with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with emphasis in Black Studies, Biological Science and Business Management.
I have over 10 years of corporate experience working for General Mills, Abbott Pharmaceuticals and AbbVie. I have expertise in Sales, Training, Recruiting and Development. In a key role, I was responsible for on-campus college recruiting of undergraduate business graduates from UT-Austin, Texas A&M, University of Houston and University of Missouri-Columbia.
In 2017, I received a Certificate in College Counseling with Distinction, awarded from the University of California-Los Angeles. I worked for five years as a College Counselor at highly competitive College Preparatory private institutions in Houston. I have worked with over 500, 9th - 12th grade students, responsible for all aspects of curriculum planning, test prep guidance and the full college application process.
I reside in Houston, Texas and my most significant college experiences have been with my children! My daughter is a St. Agnes Academy alumnae and honors graduate from the University of Virginia. My son graduated with honors from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and a Maroon Tiger at Morehouse College.
I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts/audiobooks and playing pickleball and tennis. I previously served on the boards of National Charity League, Yellowstone Academy and Jack & Jill of America, Inc. I am currently an active associate of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. I have a professional memberships in IECA - Independent Educational Consultants Association.
