- Academic Strategy, Course Planning & Standardized Testing – We will focus on how to showcase your academic talents through your coursework and rigor, while discussing the importance of academic transcript trends. We will focus on targeting the right standardized test and create a plan of action for testing preparation.
- Resume Guidance, Extra Curricular Packaging and Choosing Your Major – Who are you on paper and how to maximize your story? In putting your package together we use how your experiences in extracurricular and summer activities, time spent outside of the classroom and how you demonstrate your intellectual curiosity.
- Financial Fit – We will discuss need based vs merit aid, FAFSA, CSS, outside scholarships and ED/Early/Regular decision options to inform and influence your approach to list building a balanced list and making final college decisions.
- College List Building – Working with your planned major, we will create a list of reach, target and probable schools for you to research and create your final college application list. We will take a holistic approach to make sure you have viable academic and financial options.
- Campus Visits, Demonstrated Interest and Interview Prep – We will discuss and plan how to maximize your time while on college visits. We will also take a look at the importance of demonstrated interests for specific schools and planning to maximize your face-to-face meetings.
- College Application Platforms and Portal Management – We will work on completion of the Common App, Coalition, Apply Texas and other state school application sites that will serve as the initial platform for all of your college applications. (Resume completing is necessary for this session.)
- Supporting Documents and Naviance Management - We will discuss and create a plan of action for requesting all of the necessary documents for application completion. These include teacher and counselor letters of recommendations and transcript requests.
- Main Essay Writing – What is your story in 650 words? We will work to brainstorm various topics to help create an essay that showcases who you are. We will focus on essay development while meeting word count during the editing process.
- Short Answer Writing – We will utilize your main essay, major and skills sets to focus on school specific answers to short answer questions. We will focus on brainstorming, short answer development and word count during the editing process.
- College Majors and Freshman Course Selection – Once you have selected a college, we will work to look at the specific major and curriculum required to get an idea of your four year graduation plan and specific freshman year courses.
